The bags lived on the shelf by the window, because Harper said that was the only way to see them properly. The raffia and straw ones arrived every spring and never lasted past July — the bucket bag with its drawstring, the slouchy hobo, the little flap bag on a long strap. The knit-effect ones she bought for the details: a bamboo handle, a gold clasp, a sculpted cut-out that turned a plain beige bag into something people asked about. And then the ones that did the real work — the tote that swallowed a laptop without complaining, and the anti-theft crossbody she carried through airports before ordering it in all eight colours.

This year, Harper and Tom’s health no longer allows them to run the shop, and after eighteen years the doors have to close. Rather than close quietly, their children Valentina and Ethan are seeing every last bag to a good home at up to 70% off — our thank-you for eighteen years. Nothing is being reordered: when a colour is gone, it is gone.

    With love,
    Harper, Tom, Valentina & Ethan
